The workers, technicians and officials of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex set up a huge oxygen separator by their own efforts and with indigenous technology, updated the furnace using oxygen heat and completed at least ten projects including the building of gas producer operating by domestic anthracite and the project of heating furnace for rolling by use of high temperature air combustion technology in a brief span of time. A ceremony for the completion of the projects took place on May 24. Present there were Pak Pong Ju, premier of the Cabinet, O Su Yong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Gwang, minister of Metallurgical Industry, Pak Thae Dok, chairman of the North Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the WPK, Im Hun, chairman of the North Hwanghae Provincial People's Committee, officials and working people of the complex and those of relevant units. This newly-built factory is a modern notebook producer for children and students across the country—from kindergarteners to university students. The factory has a five-storey production building, which covers a building space of 1 500 square meters and a total floor space of 7 600 square meters. It has printing, binding, cutting and several other workshops and workteams. All production processes including high-speed perfecting and flexible disk presses, mixed folding and multispindle-wire binding machines, hydraulic display cutters, semi-automatic staplers, pasting and three-way cutting machines are automated and streamlined. Materials supply, collection of production results, labour and power management and other production processes and business activities are controlled under an integral system. The factory turns out dozens of kinds of notebooks. Covers are designed to suit the different ages and mentalities of students and subjects. The present annual production capacity is 50 million volumes and is expected to increase to 150 million in the future. The factory now puts main emphasis on upgrading of IT basis in its business management, and enhancement of the proportion of locally-available raw and other materials. |
