Paul built an accelerator that he located next to Stanford and MIT. It’s not that anyone can’t start a startup, but even he implicitly acknowledges that privilege disproportionately predicts that you will start one VCs will fund to IPO.

This happens at a lot of companies. One dude passed out at the Google sales conference years ago and did a #2 in the hotel hallway. Everyone started calling him the Poogler, and he resigned a few weeks later.

so now that the IPO went awry — the whole reason they brought Dara in in the first place (other than to settle the drama), the onus is on the CEO to prove Uber’s best years are still ahead of it

the upshot, to me, is that while FB continues to make advances in AI and how that can serve content moderation, There are very severe limits and it is not a salvo Image recognition is one thing. But How can computers keep up with the ever evolving whims of language and context?

Mark Zuckerberg has said A.I. can solve Facebook's toxic content problems. For months, we've tried to ascertain the limits of that promise. Now Facebook's CTO tells that even with A.I., toxic posts are "never going to go to zero."

Today is a sad day. Federal homeless counts, done once every other year, all across the Bay Area have reached staggering highs. At more than 8,000 people, San Francisco now has the highest numbers since the Willie Brown-era, or right around when took office.
