La Sierra News & Events
RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- For La Sierra University freshman Kyleigh Sanchez, the slate of new degree programs this school year represented an opportunity to cultivate her creativity and prepare her for potential careers in photography or the film industry.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – La Sierra University’s Hanson-Koobs Chamber Music Series returns in April with a free performance that features violinist Martin Chalifour, principal concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, along with four classical artists who have performed with the world’s top orchestras.
We are horrified today by the images and headlines describing current events in Ukraine. We hoped and prayed for a diplomatic solution, but with developments over the past 24 hours, we now fervently pray for God’s intervention on behalf of precious Ukrainian and Russian lives, for God’s protection for everyone in harm’s way.
The La Sierra Life
At La Sierra, our exciting and diverse student body is enabled to create outstanding futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. The First Three Weeks of Winter Quarter Will Be Online
Because of the recent surge of the Omicron virus and last week’s announcement of revised CDC Guidance for Covid-19 Quarantine and Isolation that distinguishes between fully vaccinated and fully vaccinated and boosted persons, the Emergency Management Team made the following decisions on January 3:
- The First Three Weeks of Winter Quarter Will Be Online. Our commitment to in-person instruction remains strong, so we anticipate that after being online for three weeks (through the month of January), the remaining seven weeks of the quarter will be on campus. Thus, unless the pandemic shifts yet again, we expect that 70% of winter quarter instruction will be delivered face-to-face on campus.
- Residence Halls Will Remain Closed through January 28. Those who need to be on campus may apply for exemptions. Please email reslife@lasierra.edu for more information and an updated exemption form. Go to the Residential Life webpage for more information. Thus, while residential halls will be closed for the rest of January, there will be some students who have received exemptions to remain on campus. For faculty or staff who need access campus for any reason, buildings and gates will remain open. However, please use caution and work with your director/supervisor to work from home whenever possible.
- Booster vaccinations for all students, faculty, and staff will be required by January 31 for those who are currently eligible, and within one week of eligibility thereafter. Those with Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations are eligible six months after second dose, and two months after the J & J dose. If you wish to apply for an exemption to the booster requirement, please carefully review the information at https://lasierra.edu/covid-19/campus-operations/ and, if you qualify, then submit the appropriate documentation to covidcompliance@lasierra.edu. If you already have your booster, please upload your vaccine card as soon as possible. For upload instructions, check the instructions here. As demand for Covid-19 boosters is high, please make your appointment now to receive your booster vaccination as soon as possible.
