One of our favourite apps for learning another language, the process is genuinely fun. What’s more, all those languages and games are available for free!
I love Duolingo. Truly and deeply. It helps me convert my inner motivation into the actual learning. I’m learning Spanish on Duolingo for almost a year now. But there is one thing I wanted to share with you. Recently I’ve finished the fourth section and unlocked the fifth, intermediate section. It was a huge deal for me, I was on the fourth section for months. And near to the end of it, in the last couple of weeks, reaching the end of the fourth section was arguably the most important goal in my life. And then the time has come. The last unit. The last lesson. The last question. Done. I see nice smooth animation that completes the fourth section and unlockes the fifth one. And… Nothing else. It was so huge to me and I haven’t got any appreciation from the app. From the app that congratulates me after every lesson, after 5 questions in a row, after quest completions. Transition to the intermediate level wasn’t appreciated at all. No gifts, no success screens, no confetti. I was honestly disappointed because I was expecting it to be huge from the apps perspective too.Off course my love to Duolingo wasn’t affected at all and I keep learning. But I hope this would be a valuable insight for you as you always improve the application. Thanks for the experience!
I’m very dissatisfied with Duolingo. I’ve been learning Italian for a long time, but instead of feeling like I’m progressing, I constantly feel like I’m going in circles. The course keeps repeating the same vocabulary, sentence structures, and topics over and over again, without giving me a clear sense of progression or introducing enough new material. After spending so much time learning, I expected to see much more improvement.Another thing that I find very strange is the way the course presents its characters and scenarios. When I’m learning Italian, I would like to see more Italian names, people, and cultural context. Instead, I constantly encounter characters with Indian names and Muslim characters, including characters wearing hijab. Diversity itself is not a problem, but when it feels disproportionately represented in a course specifically designed to teach Italian, it feels artificial and disconnected from the cultural context I’m trying to learn. It sometimes even feels like the representation is being deliberately pushed rather than naturally integrated into the course.Overall, I’m disappointed because Duolingo seems much more focused on keeping users repeating lessons and maintaining engagement than on actually helping them progress in the language. I would really like to see a more structured curriculum, genuinely new material, and much stronger Italian cultural context.
And I have been studying for a year on your offer. The offer is very good, ideal. There is only one drawback. I have Duolingo on two devices. On the first everything works perfectly, but on the second one for some reason it does not work. On my second device all the sticks catch the Internet, but Duolingo tells me that "there is no Internet connection". This is not the case on the first device.P.S. The Internet is distributed to the first device from the second. On the first one it does not write anything, on the second one, where it should be better, it says that there is no Internet at all. Please fix it, thanks in advanceP.S.S please add Arabic and Chinese language on the Russia
I love Duolingo, the tasks are interesting, and the system of memorization through daily repetition really works. BUT what did you do to the hearts system? The energy? It no longer depletes from mistakes, but just randomly? What is this nonsense... I spent two days trying to finish a level on Legendary after the section, and the energy drains twice as fast. On the first day, I started with 20 energies, naively thinking it would be enough, and of course, they ran out before I could finish, even though I was doing everything quickly and without a single mistake. On the second day, I started the level with 25 energies, and guess what? I still didn’t have enough, even though I skimmed some of the texts and could still guess the answers based on general understanding, so I was going as fast as possible. No mistakes again. HOW ARE YOU EXPECTING US TO COMPLETE THIS WITH SUCH A SYSTEM? I'm at my limit, bring back the hearts!
i had a yearly subscription earlier but i’m never paying for duolingo again because it keeps disappointing me with shilling their ai stuff everywhere. ai audio in japanese sometimes sounds wrong and they don’t fix it even if you flag it. i also don’t like these new gacha chests that i have to open after each lesson, they take too much time and distract from studying. one big drawback of their japanese course is that they don’t explain kanji whatsoever so it implies remembering random strokes. i also don’t like that they recently updated the japanese course which messed up my linear progress. i had a couple of units helping to learn the words that I missed because of the update but now my overall past lessons are different from what i studied and took notes based on, which messes everything up. i kind of keep going because i want to finish the course but duolingo is a big disappointment.
I adore your app and appreciate your hard work on improving your app on adding more and more stuff for learners. Your app isn’t only for those who have targets to learn the language and also a world where everyone can learn the language of their dream 💭 and get drown in the world of linguistics and the power of all the languages. Thank you very much. And my only request for the Japanese course is to add the speaking stuff like in Spanish or Russian, where you check your pronunciation.Thank you very much. Keep moving. Keep improving ⚡️
SHAME ON DUOLINGO. I am deeply disappointed and honestly heartbroken by Duolingo’s treatment of Iranian users. How can an app that claims to make education accessible to everyone ignore Persian (Farsi), a beautiful, ancient, and widely spoken language, while supporting so many other languages? And now Iranian users are being denied access to tests and educational opportunities simply because of their nationality. Iranian users have supported Duolingo for years, kept long streaks, promoted the app, and recommended it to friends and family. Yet when it comes to us, you choose to turn your back on an entire nation. Ordinary Iranian people are NOT responsible for their government’s political decisions. Education, technology, and learning should never be used as political weapons. This is discrimination, deeply unfair, and truly shameful.
Today 1'st month of learning with Duolingo. Want to give feedbackWant to thanks creators and community of Duolingo. I am very proud of the fact that for the first time I wanted to engage in self-development without institutions, schools, work, and I got motivated because of Duolingo. Because of apps. like that different countries, peoples and cultures are getting closer to each other, by making PEACE and making real inhabitants of the world. Duolingo is not just up, Duolingo is tool for getting people more closer and making peaceful planet to have in the future🌠💚🌎
It’s great and I’m really grateful that somehow I saw this app and downloaded it)))It has it’s little magic!!!!I haven’t practiced in ages and still after that when you try to practice your skills again you see that it’s in your head,,,,It’s easier than learning otherwise it’s funnier and everything is for free,,,,I appreciate this people who really work hard for us it’s even more than just great and I want to thank you the whole team who supports it....you’re the best)))I’ve never written review before but I just couldn’t do that this time,,,,
I have been learning a language for 2 years and I couldn’t say a single sentence. I couldn’t remember any words and my memory is good. It does not teach you sentences or shows you situations from the real world. One of my family members has been learning English for 9 years and still can’t speak English very well. This app is very overrated and doesn’t teach you very well. What I recommend instead is Babel which is a much better app and teaches you situations from the real world. That language I’ve been leaning for 2 years that I couldn’t speak at all, I mastered in 3 months very well with babel. So If You want to really speak well and learned well I definitely recommend Babel over Duolingo. Thanks for reading.
