It's not often we stumble across an app that has the potential to dramatically transform your workflow. But with Shapr 3D, there’s no need for a desk, a mouse, or a keyboard. With your iPad and Apple Pencil, you can design complex 3D models. The ability to work offline means you’ll be able to sketch and design from anywhere.
This program is so easy to learn and use. The videos and walkthroughs the creators and community make for new and experienced designers is awesome and is free!! Don’t even need to get full access to start learning. Now the prints I get after designing is spot on if you’re looking for program to start designing as a newbie this is the one!
It’s really easy to use, it only took me like 20 minutes to make an iPhone concept. The fact that it’s super easy to use when you get the hang of it is awesome. There’s just one thing though, the blocked paid features. You have to pay to color your model or even take pictures, and it’s like 20 bucks a month. Other than that, it’s pretty good!
It’s not the most powerful cad software, and is missing a few features, but after trying lots of others it’s the only cad app that feels natural on the iPad with a pencil. It’s easily my favorite of all the programs but is also almost therapeutic. I love sketching things by the pool or at the library or in a park. Really a wonderful experience
Being able to work when ever and where ever has put my productivity light years ahead. I spent years glued to one spot and will never work like that again. I can’t speak for anyone else but Shapr3d meets all my needs. 5 stars all day 🔥🔥🔥💯
I love every feature and seamless detail the devs added, but consider adding a sculpting section for more mesh details. This would speed up character modeling by starting with your base geometry features and sculpting the modifications from there.
Very good app, has a lot of features and its very easy to learn. The biggest problem is how expensive it is, you should be able to export a model you made without having to pay a fortune. The free version is fine but you can’t really do much after you make your model.
I’m a senior citizen and found this app to suit my needs. No more drafting table and T square for me. The app is powerful and I love the built in generative ai which allows me to put my designs in an environment for presentation. I would like to see an ungroup button but that’s for another conversation.
The app is just a struggle bus to get started with, and while the developers built out tutorials for the app. I just find them useless, I literally follow the tutorial step for step, and without fail it doesn’t work. Super bummed as I thought this would be perfect for woodworking projects but the learning curve is too steep or something else is wrong but so far the experience is frustrating and feels like more work than just drawing and redrawing the items as needed.UPDATE: So I stuck with it and eventually got over the hump. For most start small, even smaller than the demo and start on the intro YouT series. But I will say it still infuriates me there’s just not a bit more simple functionality to start, but it is CAD. Could be an iPad Air issue with the new M4 or just me, but it still struggles to move through the process smoothly and without issue.
I love shapr I have used it for 4+ years to teach introduction to solid modeling to BA undergrads. I previous,y taught fusion however Shapr iPad intuitive apple pen use and well designed gui sped up my students learning capabilities by weeks. It has grown so much and the cross platform integration has been a lifesaver in classroom setting where BOYD plays a big role. After so many years of use I exclusively model parts for printing and milling in shapr. The only time I leave it is to cam stuff out for milling. Great app and reliable company for longevity. You won’t go wrong here it you are a beginner or professional.
If you want to export anything you better expect to pay the ridiculous price for pro. The free .stl export is so bad I’d be ashamed to even have it as an option if it was my app. I only used this for the iPad a few times just messing around when I didn’t feel like working with my pc but I think I’ll just stick to fusion360. Everything on here is just way to finicky for me to even think about paying more than $20 for this app as a one time fee for lifetime use but they want $290 a year for this?
