Reigns: Game of Thrones
Ratings & Reviews
Everything about this game is genuinely engaging and exciting. From the moment you start playing, it pulls you in and keeps you fully entertained without ever feeling repetitive or dull. What I appreciate most is its flexibility—you can dive in for a quick session when you only have a few minutes, or settle in for a longer stretch and stay completely immersed the entire time. It strikes a great balance between being easy to pick up and hard to put down, making it a go-to whenever I need a fun and reliable escape.
O love this game a lot, worth the money, I was gonna start complaining about how their was no battlefield play or whatever but their is which is cook I only wish it was more graphic, such as with each move you make on the battle field it will tell you how many men you have left and what had happened, it will show you the strength between both armies you are fighting against, It would also be nice if their was a part in which you could be a lord or a lady instead of a king or queen EX: Lord of tyrell or lady of dorne, I also wish you could travel anywhere but not freely only when the time comes such as to Dorne, or storm lands, or the iron islands. I also wish when the time comes you could place castles under siege or take over castles. One very important thing they should add is a graph or something that when your playing shows you all of the kingdoms that make up the seven kingdoms and see if they are united or not, and to show which houses are dead and which aren’t. Another suggestion should be that you could have love and children with any character and you could have a crowning ceremony if you do wed. I also think their should be a lot more instances with battles. Their should also be a bar in which it shows you who work for you such as Hand of King and Master of whispers and it should allow you to appoint new ones. Overall this game is AMAZING!!! I love it, worth spending your money on.
I didn’t know what exactly I expected when I downloaded the game. Maybe a solitaire type game with a plot since it has been categorized as a ‘card’ game. The cards are more of just a back drop. The game is brilliant tho. Well made, exciting, unique, and true enough to GoT to please any fan. There are a few features I believe the game is missing which is the only reason that I did not give it 5 stars. There needs to be a way to see the effect of your choices in a type of chart showing which houses are loyal and in open rebellion same with people. I often find myself confused by who is an ally and who isn’t. The game just felt limited to the main interface, which isn’t awful, I just wish it had a little more depth to better help the player make educated decisions and give the player a sense of accomplishment by seeing the way the houses and lord of Westeros shifts. Other than that FANTASTIC game that I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the franchise or just looking for a fun, casual game you can pick up and put down at any time.
This game is legit! I already love the reigns games, and in my opinion this is the best one! Easy to pick up and play, and you don’t have to know anything about GoT to understand the story. I’ve not watched or read or played any of the other novella of Westros (other than the Apple Arcade game), and yet I still know the characters and they’re place, who they are, and what they’ve done. Obviously there is not as much depth in this as the show or book, but for a game where you swipe right or left to try not to die, it’s incredible! It’s pretty easy to die in this game, which I guess is similar to the show (don’t most of the main characters die?), so when you last many moons you feel like a champ. 5/5 would recommend this game to anyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other thing that separates. This really does appeal to everyone. All of these games do😁 (worth every penny, by far, best paid mobile game in its class)
I was very very very excited for this game whenever i seen it pop up for preorder in the AppStore over a months ago, and since it’s release I’ve played it basically everyday. (On my “screen time” in settings on iPhone it says that this game has been my most played game over the past week at like 12 hours or something) it’s a very fun game and just before writing this review i “beat” the game. I have to say that at first it was a bit buggy (to be expected) but after the last update it has been a lot better and therefore a lot easier to progress. This will be a game that i will continue to play for a while because it reimmersed me into the game of thrones world. So much so that whenever i first started playing i thought i might be getting spoilers for season 8. lol the only reason I’m not giving a complete 5 stars is bc sometimes the not main characters faces change depending on who you’re playing with but they will have the same name so you just have to remember the names.
This game is fantastic. It’s fun, it’s quick, it’s easy to play again and again to try out different approaches or just to see what random cards come up that change the timing or nature of the various stories. The way they blended the Reigns gameplay mechanics with GoT themes is simply perfect, perhaps with a few exceptions which seem to affect mostly one character and I think and attributable to bugs rather than gameplay. For specific bugs see below but beware there are spoilers. It seems the most recent update brought some issues with playing Cersei and seem to pop up only after you unlock all the characters and open up the win conditions. The big one relates to the end of winter or rather the lack thereof. After you’ve beaten the white walkers and the summer card shows up, winter still does not end. This happens regardless of whether you regroup in the capitol or march on winterfell. The winter hud stays, the extra impact on on population decision stays, and the white walkers still attack and this time you cannot use your win condition. They just kill you.The other bug is Arya playing the game of faces with Cersei. In her final question she asks Cersei if Cersei’s children are hers. That’s a bit confusing. But the bigger issue seems to be that after she plays the game if faces, Arya sticks around court and you can use her to do things like pacify the Tyrell’s land. This one isn’t as bad as the other one but it’s just weird and probably not intentional. Hope these get fixed soon but definitely still loving this game!
I really want to love this game. It captivates the feel of being an actually character in “A Song of Ice and Fire”. The writing is great and it does feel like you are actually sitting on the Iron Throne and trying to rule the seven kingdoms. After playing this game for a few days I started to understand some of nuances and I was able to better make decisions. It’s fun to role-play but it is also fun to go crazy and make random decisions. My only issue is that it is pretty random just like a rogue-like. I appreciate that making similar decisions in certain situations sometimes doesn’t always play out the same way ( might even get you killed ) but sometimes it’s just too random. I was ruling as Lord Snow and my play through was pretty balanced. I fought a war, made safe travel to Winterfell... then I caught an unexpected fever and died. Maybe something I did caused this but I don’t know... I will continue to play this because it is fun seeing different scenarios but it’s only cause I like feeling miserable after failing in new and surprising ways.
PROS: It feels like playing GoT fan-fiction, which is awesome! So many new ways the story can go that it feels like any of these rulers could be a satisfying conclusion to the series. The choices characters make are all crafted with their personality and history in mind. Really well done! There are also a few different ways to approach playing. You can play it seeing how long your character can stay alive or you can play it making riskier decisions. The game often rewards you for making these risky decisions with new cards or characters.CONS: I’m currently stuck at 5 characters after playing many, many games. At this point the “momentum” of the game has slowed to a halt, and I’d really love to know what random card or decision I have to make to progress in the game. It’s unfortunate that progress in the game is sometimes locked like this, until you make that one random decision on sometimes random looking cards, other characters will stay locked. UPDATE: I was given the correct cards to progress finally, but if I didn’t choose the right things on those cards I’m not sure when they would have come back up again. There are also a few inconsistencies in what cards you are given. For example, if I solve the diplomacy problem with the Lannisters, I should not still be at war with them. Another example is a character choosing to stay in Kings Landing, then I get a letter from him from another place. These choices or cards should be taken out of the rotation if certain previous decision have already been made.
Not bad. I really enjoyed Reigns. And I love ASOIAF. Should’ve been a no-brainer. Sadly it’s lacking on a couple fronts. One: why all the ridiculous made-up names? You literally have hundreds of characters to pull from in the book’s and show’s mythology, and yet the bulk of cards display made up names. I get it’s a Reigns game, and thus the names are randomized in a similar fashion. But they changed some game elements for this release (like multiple rulers). Why not change this as well? The bigger issue though is the lack of mid-game save. I was literally on year 60, with two new objectives checked off, then got a phone call, had to run an errand, came back, and all was lost. This is pretty sloppy given the devs were able to do this on their previous games. I’d love to see this fixed.
This is extremely entertaining and very satisfying for a fan of both Reign and GOT. But the inconsistencies in each play though are pretty big. For instance, I’ll make the Iron Islander my Master of Whispers, only to go BACK to war against them, and for him to ask for an office again, to which he “stares blankly” at me for offering it to him while he’s in the office, as any other master of whispers would, it even gives me the option to execute him so he can fill the vacancy (This just removes him from the game outright). It seems like the game doesn’t take into consideration choices you’ve made to impact future ones. I’ll make peace with the Lannisters by cutting their credit, but they’re my enemy again by the next small council meeting.
