  • Essential tool

I am a bassoon player, and I highly recommend using the sustain function on the tone-playing tab of the app. Depending on the key of the piece I am playing, I will change the tone as a check for my intonation. I use the clarinet tone because I play so often with clarinet in the orchestra. It has really changed how I practice. Also, I have an iPhone and play the tones through my AirPods.

  • Worth the money! Must-have for anyone with an instrument. Best metronome and tuning app.

This app is simply awesome. Whether you are composing a song and are finding a good BPM for it, or you have a piano that is out of tune and want to make it in tune, or anything else, this app is for you! It is very customizable. After you pay 6 dollars, you don't even have to pay for anything else! So you just pay, and don't worry about DLC or anything like that. And you don't need a tuner and a metronome, because this app does both! In conclusion, I absolutely love this app and it is worth it.

  • My world is rocked

I bought this app and my wig is blown off, I play alto tnorbass scrowsta 🥰 and I tried out the tuner I was 7 scales over 3 high higher then I should be😧 I didn’t know this… maybe this is why I got a cymbal thrown at me, I love Mr. Funk☺️ this has helped me so much as a oil pastel artist 👩‍🎨 my math teacher told me to not to not to write reviews because AI would find me and hurt me, but I’m a rebel and rules weren’t ment to be followed by THIS gal… this a wonderful app😊

  • Never written a review before…

I’ve never written a review for an app on the App Store before, but I’ve been using TE Tuner for 15 years now. From trombone to voice, this app allows you as much or as little control over ever aspect of tuning and tempo you can imagine. Highly recommend for anyone in band classes and beyond.

  • Good app but makes it impossible to open XML files?

    HedgieMaster

Good tuner app, plus a built-in digital keyboard, but for some reason XML files refuse to load properly from the Files app because they default to opening in this app. Honestly not sure why and it’s kinda funny but also means I have to offload the app any time I need to access one.

  • One of the best apps to buy for as a musician

    DoelaofLiora

This truly is a great app! As a violinist I really get great practice using this! I can tune my strings perfectly and then use it to tune myself and any passage I need to double check if I'm in tune. And once I'm in tune that's when I can use its metronome to see if I'm also dragging or rushing. It also has a recording option so you can check if you are in tune or not or if your interpretation is good or really anything you couldn't spot before! I also play other instruments and sing in a choir where it has the option to see when not yu are singing on the staff (shows a picture of the staff, what cleff and if you are lightly sharp or flat on the note). And if I need to practice my saxophone I can quickly change it from violin tuning and notes to Eb Bari Sax tuning and notes. Honestly it's been so great for any performance preparation or practice session!

  • Room for improvement

    Reviewer on the AppStore

I am a percussionist and so I tune drums very often, mostly timpani’s. The tutor is great. I usually use the sustain feature to just put the tone up in my ear and then tune the timpani by ear, but sometimes I also use the tuner that actually shows you how close you are to the right note so overall the tuner feature works great but the metronome feature has a really serious issue. while practicing I noticed that it does actually fluctuate in speed every so often and it’s not accurate, so I have to use a different app for a metronome. This is a very serious issue that needs to be fixed because essentially that is like 50% of the reason I bought this app

  • It’s okay

    None yo business.

So basically, I had to practice one of my songs which don’t get me wrong I’m terrible at playing, but I was using the metronome and realized that the animation was not matching up with the ticking and it was very inconsistent. Then I looked at the second to see how long the metronome was running for, and the timer was counting in burst of three, then there was a long pause and then more words of three I don’t think it could possibly be that hard to count normal normal seconds. Everything else is fine, but the metronome.

  • Fabulous tool for teachers and musicians

    Deaganvibe

Total energy is an incredible tool for musicians and teachers. It allows a teacher or musician to work with a metronome, recorder, tuner, and tone generator all in one. Like many tuners, this app allows a person to tune aurally and through visual cues. As a teacher I am able to show the students visually if they are in tune as well as with their ear and immediately record what they're playing and show them the wavelength as well as play from the recording of how they sound. The tuner is also very easy to use and smiles at you when you're in tune. It is also highly adjustable for sensitivity and instrumentation. I currently use this for all of which I said above but also projecting sound over the orchestra with its tone generator so that I could play along with the students in trouble spots. I believe this tool is invaluable as a teacher musician and I highly recommend this app for anyone interested in teaching or being a better musician to use this tool and experiment with how they could use it to better themselves and their students. Not only is this tuner easy to use, but it allows you to tune in equal temperament and just intonation which is extremely valuable when teaching a performing ensemble. There's a similar product that is a physical keyboard by a very popular company and the piano cost $1200. For $3.99, you have an incredible deal, it's portable, and it is easy to use.
