There’s a special place in the App Store’s heart for altruistic apps, and Be My Eyes is an instantly effective example of one. It connects people who are blind or who have low vision with sighted volunteers who can help with day-to-day tasks. You’ll choose whether you’d like to join the thousands of people receiving assistance or the millions of volunteers providing it. Both parties will select their preferred language(s), and video calls can be initiated with a tap.
I couldn't imagine getting through my day without this app. It has improved the quality of my life 100%. I especially like the AI function. I use it every morning to read the screen on my blood pressure machine. I use it to read receipts. I use it to figure out what color makeup I am putting on my face. His app has brought accessibility into the 21st-century. And the fact that I do not have to pay for it is a plus even though if I had to, I would.
I want to thank the developers for this app, which I find to be very accurate, easy to use and very compatible with my iPhone and also Meta glasses. It is one of the most responsive and accurate apps I have found as a visually impaired person. As a pastor, it has revolutionized my ability to quickly scan and read documentation and scan my surroundings. Thanks again for the work on this game changing app.
I have heard great things about this app and decided to try it. I haven’t gotten a call yet but think a great change would be adding availability for those who are volunteering. (So we can add our work schedules in order to not interfere with drive times and such) some of us have different availability every week so I think adding an option for updating your schedule weekly vs having a set schedule or syncing with our calendar would be great!
I’ve been volunteering for Be My Eyes for a few years now and every experience assisting a visually challenged person is gold! One recommendation/suggestion is that it’d super helpful if the call indicates what language the caller speaks because I’m multilingual and would have to figure out what language the person speaks when I pick up and sometimes it can be confusing for the caller/volunteer. Would be great to see the change!
I love this app. It gives you a simple way to help someone who is blind or has low vision with an everyday task that might only take a few minutes. You answer a video call, lend your eyes for a moment, and hopefully make somebody’s day a little easier. It’s easy, worthwhile, and a great example of technology actually bringing people together. Glad I signed up! 💚🌺🍀💎
I’ve been on this app 6 years and have been able to do a handful of calls which have been a great experience. It’s so wonderful being able to help people and honestly it’s so beautiful seeing how many volunteers are on this app !! It’s a beautiful thing! I just wish there was a log to show how many calls you’ve answered
I get so excited to take a “Be My Eyes” call, and I love the fact that so many people volunteer that I have to be QUICK picking up or else someone will already have answered! Everyone I’ve spoken to has been so nice, and it always makes my day knowing I could make something easier or just make day to day stuff more convenient.
I first downloaded BeMyEyes in 2018 and became a volunteer. I love getting calls. I tell all my friends about them. Then they sign up to volunteer, too. It’s such a fun ripple effect, and a great way to assist someone. App has significantly improved (especially the critical “torch” feature) over the years. Thank you for building and maintaining this amazing app for visually impaired friends ❤️
I just received my first call after signing up 2 days ago. The call lasted probably not even 30 seconds, I helped a gal change the setting on her washing machine. It was so rewarding to be able to help and the person on the other end was so appreciative. Thank you for creating this app!!
This app is amazing and helping will make you feel so good. Just be sure you’re really available when you take a call, because it could be long and it could be a navigation call which can be intimidating and take a while. I would still say absolutely sign up.
