Built for iOS 27. Ask Rufus picks your next book from the ones you have finished, and on iOS 27 Apple Intelligence writes the reason why through Private Cloud Compute. Plus an extra-large widget on iPhone, Visual Intelligence that opens the book you tapped, and an app that resizes on iPad and on the Mac. ASK RUFUS - Six cards on the Explore tab: Pick for me, Surprise me, Short and quick, A long one to sink into, A classic worth your time, Something different. Two more appear once your shelf can fill them - Each answer is three books with a reason for each, plus one deliberately off your usual path - The picks come from your own shelf, your ratings and the genres you return to. They are chosen on your device, in all 32 languages, with no model involved - With Apple Intelligence (supported iPhones and languages), the reason under each book is written for you. Without it the reasons are plainer and nothing is missing - A line under the picks always says who wrote the notes SIRI AND SPOTLIGHT - Say "Ask Rufus in Must Read" and Siri answers with the same picks, covers included, without opening the app - Your library is indexed for Spotlight: search a title and it opens straight in Must Read. On iOS 27 that index is also how Siri AI can draw on what you are reading - Siri knows which book is on screen and can answer about it NEW WITH iOS 27 - The notes under Ask Rufus's picks are written through Private Cloud Compute, on Apple silicon, and read noticeably better - Extra-large widget on iPhone: a shelf of your current books on the Home Screen - Fully resizable in iPhone Mirroring on a Mac and on iPad, in every orientation VISUAL INTELLIGENCE - Point the camera at a cover, or open a photo, and pick Must Read. Tapping a result now opens the book, even one you do not own yet - Better matches: the search ignores straplines and publisher names and asks our catalogue every time READING - A book on its last page can now be finished from the reading timer: a green Mark complete button, and a swipe from the left in What to read? - Minutes you type when finishing are kept as a reading session EXPLORE - Readers in Belarus and Kazakhstan get the Russian-language shelves; readers in New Zealand, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Monaco get the nearest shelves in their language - Fixed: for readers in Canada using French, the links to buy a book were empty

Siri understands you when you name a book loosely, search waits for the answer instead of giving up, and Explore opens far faster. SIRI - Say a title with a typo, just the author, or one word of the title. Must Read now finds the book you meant instead of asking again - Siri answers with a card: the cover, the title, the author and your rating, so you can see that it worked - New: ask how many days in a row you have read, and Siri shows your streak - New: Siri & Shortcuts in Settings lists every command, in the exact words Siri listens for - A book page now shows what you can say about that book, and each tip can be dismissed on its own SEARCH - Search waits for the answer instead of giving up early, so a slow moment no longer looks like an empty result - Better results when the title and your keyboard use different alphabets - A misspelled author name now finds the author SPEED - Explore loads in one request instead of forty, so the first screen arrives far sooner - Classics and country lists open faster for the same reason SIGNING IN - Fixed: an expired sign-in link could sign you out of the account you were already using - Fixed: if signing in failed once, later attempts said nothing at all - Fixed: the app could wait forever on a server that was never going to answer ALSO IN THIS UPDATE - Notifications are more reliable, and a device that stopped receiving them now repairs itself - Reaching the free limit now names the book it could not add - A free trial says it is a trial on your membership line - Fixed: a reading session could record more than eight hours if it was left running

SEARCH AND SCANNING - Search results arrive noticeably faster, and typing an ISBN finds the book straight away - Scanning a book that Must Read does not know yet now works where it used to come back empty - Asking Siri or pointing the camera at a cover reaches the same catalogue, so those find more books too IMPORTS - New: Import history, in Settings under Data. Every import you have run, with what was added, what was updated and what was already on your shelves - You can start an import from Settings at any time now, not only when setting up - Importing the same file twice never creates duplicates, and a book you removed comes back if the file still lists it - Fixed: when a book could not be imported, the app said nothing. It now says so and offers to try again READING TIMER - Fixed: Pause and Resume on the Lock Screen could do nothing if the app had been shut down in the background. They always work now - A second tap on a card that has not refreshed can no longer undo what you just did ALSO IN THIS UPDATE - Smaller fixes and refinements throughout

Audiobooks start faster and move between chapters almost instantly, and importing brings more of your shelf across. AUDIOBOOKS - Chapters are ready before you tap Listen now, so a book starts on the first try instead of waiting on the catalogue - Moving to the next chapter is now near instant - Fixed: a chapter that failed to load closed the player instead of letting you try again IMPORTING YOUR LIBRARY - Fixed: a large import could leave books as bare entries with no cover, and nothing would fill them in afterwards - Fixed: books with the series in the title, like "Beartown (Beartown, #1)", were not matched to the catalogue SCANNING - Fixed: on a busy day a scan failed and blamed your connection. It now finds the book another way, and tells you when the catalogue is busy - Fixed: a book that could not be added straight away is now retried instead of quietly disappearing YOUR ACCOUNT - Fixed: signing in to a different account could leave the previous account's books on your device ALSO IN THIS UPDATE - Smaller fixes and refinements throughout

Your reading time lands where it should, and search stops caring about accents. Type "cafe" and you will find "Café" ALSO IN THIS UPDATE - Smaller fixes and refinements throughout

Your library card in Apple Wallet, and a reading timer that keeps time with you. THE MUST READ CARD - Add your card to Apple Wallet and carry your reading with you: how many books you are tracking, and how many you have finished - Turn it over for what you are reading right now, what your taste reads like, and your member number - It keeps itself up to date, so finishing a book changes the card without you lifting a finger READING GOALS - Give a reading session a goal: 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or a length of your own - Follow it counting down on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and on your Apple Watch - A goal never cuts you off. Reach it and the timer tells you, then keeps counting for as long as you keep reading INVITE FRIENDS - Invite a friend and you both track 5 more books for free - Redeem a code from your Profile and your shelf grows straight away - If someone you invited subscribes, you get a month of Pro on us ALSO IN THIS UPDATE - Fixed: a watch complication could go on showing a book you had already finished - Dozens of smaller fixes and refinements
