I started my phone backup for drive and MY MISTAKE was not seeing how much storage I had because I bought vpn plus and assumed I would have more storage lol but now my 2gb drive is full and while there is a "deselect all" button there is not a "select all" button nor a "undo phone backup" option so now my drive is completely full and I have to manually select each and every photo of the over 1k photos that were uploaded. Love the encrypted stuff and I realize I need to buy the drive plus specifically probably for more storage but the lack of any way to mass delete things in proton products is such a bummer when these kind of user mistakes are made.Edit: went to the desktop site version of drive instead of the app and there you can delete photos by month! Thats cool so im fixing my rating from 3 to 4 stars but Id still like more options for the app as well.

I don’t know what it is about this app specifically that the developers just can’t get to work properly, but this app has been a massive letdown since I started using it over a year ago. At the time, I figured it was just needing a patch, which I had come to trust and expect, given my excellent experience with the rest of the Proton suite, but this app specifically performs absolutely abysmally even now, using the latest version, and seemingly hasn’t made any significant progress in terms of performance since I started using it. Everything from just loading into it to tapping on the files tab to simply opening a file I’ve already downloaded (!!!) is sluggish, messy process, and I can’t recommend using this app on mobile to anyone. The desktop version on both Mac and Windows works fine, and like I said, the rest of Proton’s apps on iOS work great, but this app on this platform specifically is a performance nightmare. I’m not using a particularly old device or iOS version either. I’m running the latest version of the app on iOS 18.5 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Please do better Proton, I thoroughly enjoy using these apps, and I hope this app can be brought up to the level of quality and UX that I’ve come to expect from the rest of the apps.

I hear good things on the windows side. But in the iOS / Mac world, ProtonDrive is barely enough to upload files to an app predetermined folder and just leave them there. That is if you can get all your files up in a timely and reliable manner. Email is great, VPN is awesome, drive not so much. And waiting 9 months and not one update, doesn’t help it any. Next update must be huge. Seriously, are there any features coming to Proton drive? Since version 1.10 a whole year ago, all we’re getting is this “The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements.” That is one whole year without one single feature added.Edit to add, finally photo backup. And that is all it is. We now have the ability to very, very slowly, upload our pictures, while the app is open and in the foreground. And on WiFi only. 5k in pictures and tonight will be the 3rd night uploading.Oh, and you can’t see the pictures on the Mac folder. Let’s not even talk about the Mac app. Syncing for weeks and files still on the SSD instead of just the cloud as advertised.

Remember 40-50 years ago when universities were homebrewing their own Unix-based applications to run in your Lear-Siegler dumb-terminal, and applications had a very narrow palette of features? That's Proton. The cloud-storage can archive whatever you want to store in it; expect little else. Document editing on-the-fly using Proton Docs... derpity-derp, especially on a smart-device. Practically any standardized feature you've taken for granted using on a smart-phone in the past 10-15 years with cloud-driven office-suites works poorly or is completely absent. Folks have been requesting simple feature-additions for years with Proton Docs and Proton Mail... never happens.Use this service the way you'd use an external drive; it doesn't behave like iCloud, OneDrive, or any other productivity-based cloud-service. It's like having an account-based storage allocation on an old mainframe... but with contemporary security-measures, although I have some doubts whether they've competently integrated those security features we would expect from information/storage systems today.
