Editors’ Choice celebrates the very best apps and games—handpicked by App Store Editors around the world.

By analyzing our nights, RISE helped us make sense of our days—and ourselves. This sleep-tracking app seamlessly translated our sleep data by connecting the dots between how we slept and how we felt throughout the day.
We knew we loved it when: We groggily opened the app and were greeted with a plan to help us get our sleep back on track. RISE analyzed our history, including how much sleep debt we’d accrued, and laid out a schedule to bring it down to zero over the next five days. It didn’t shame us for the nine hours of debt we’d racked up—it just taught us how to chip away at it.

Our favorite discovery: How RISE made us more considerate people. The app doesn’t just track your sleep—it tracks the people around you too. When someone close to you has a rough night, RISE logs it and flags that their energy is running low, reminding you that compounded sleep debt can make people more irritable. This feature nudged us to find small ways to show extra compassion to our loved ones, like taking something off their plate.
Our biggest surprise: We were in the office, unable to focus, when RISE sent an alert—our afternoon energy dip had arrived and wouldn’t lift until 2:02 p.m. Having a biological explanation for the slump was validating, even if we definitely felt it. And RISE went further, noting the dip had arrived 11 minutes earlier than the day before because our sleep debt had crept up overnight.
