TrainingPeaks: Plan Train Lift
Ratings & Reviews
If you are serious about following a structured training plan or if you are working with a coach then this app is the way to go. You and / or your couch can plan a program of multiple training types around goal events or fitness targets. I enjoy the added metrics provided by Training Peaks and the ability to communicate easily with my coach using the app. One of the really useful features is the ability to load structured workouts onto a supported watch (I use the Garmin Fenix 5X). This means that track sessions or other workouts with repeats gets loaded on your watch and it keeps track of the repeats and the interval targets such as distance, time , heart rate, etc for you.
There is no better way to communicate with your coach than through training peaks. My coach is thousands of miles away and he can see exactly what I’m doing. You can easily and seamlessly see your training progress. In addition Iit’s so easy to upload workouts through Garmin Connect. This enables you to see exactly what your training load is. The only word of caution is the fatigue indicator isn’t accurate unless you use a heart rate monitor. The fitness for running is also lower than the true figure if you prefer to run without a heart rate strap.
The app makes it simple to log workouts and track fitness. The functionality to have a coach on the other end updating and adjusting your training program as you progress is amazing.
Developer ResponseThanks Francois for the feedback!
From a coaching point of view - the app don’t allow to change pace or intervals when it was designed on the desktop version. Sometimes a coach needs to adjust a wrokout on the go - as an athlete might have gotten sick or are pressed for time, etc. only option at the moment is to delete or do minor tweaks to a specific workout.
Been using with my coach for over a year now and it is one of the most essential tools we use besides running shoes 😉 fantastic app that just simply works without bugs and crashes.
The only thing I would love to see is to make it possible on the mobile app to move training sessions around with ease as you can on the desktop version. Even a simple copy and paste option would do the trick
Still the gold standard when it comes to endurance training software and technology. The absence of the Annual Training Plan from the apps is annoying, a gap spotted by the competition such as Kudocoach, which has become a better packaged version of TPs offering + the ability to derive an ATP and weekly plans without the need for a coach. Please fix this.
I recently signed up to be coached by EVO Exercise Science and it makes life so much easier knowing what is coming up. Following a structured program with TP makes everything a lot more enjoyable
Used it for many years. Brilliant for data mining, training plans, coaches and super user friendly. No issues integrating with other platforms. Highly recommended!
Awesome app would like them to update the interface to better show the data ... basically to make it more clean and easy to read an understand
