The Great Repricing

For most of my adult life, the economic world operated according to a set of assumptions that seemed almost permanent. Interest rates would eventually go lower. Government bonds were safe. Inflation would remain contained. Human labor was scarce and intelligence was expensive. Technology would make things cheaper. The dollar would remain the unquestione…

The Hunger Games were a Containment Manual for Gen Z

Two ways to read a bestseller
In 2008, Suzanne Collins was channel-surfing between reality TV and Iraq War footage and was inspired to write a plucky, anti-authoritarian manifesto about a teenage girl who brings down a tyrannical government using a bow and arrow. Most readers take it as a populist triumph, a story that encourages young people to question inequality, media spectacle,…

Rumpelstiltskin and the Alchemy of Sovereign Debt

They told you it was a bedtime story. It isn’t.
Rumpelstiltskin is a four-hundred-year-old warning, and the people who encoded it didn’t have newspapers or courts or any official channel to name what was being done to them. So they gave it a spinning wheel. A tower room. A strange little man who dances alone in the dark.

The Part That Doesn’t Show Up on a Chart

Two days in Columbus, and almost none of what mattered was about price.
The Midwest Bitcoin Summit put a Bitcoin conference and one of the country’s largest cannabis business conferences in the same convention center, on the same days, with free access between them. That is not a scheduling accident. It is a bet that the fastest way to explain Bitcoin to someone is to find people who already live with the problems it solves…

💵 The Stablecoin Economy: Why Digital Dollars Are Quietly Reshaping Global Finance

Stablecoins started as a tool for crypto traders. Today, dollar-linked digital tokens are becoming part of a much bigger conversation about payments, global dollars, and financial infrastructure.

The increase demand for treasuries is the most under reported fact. Were it not for stable coins yields would be even higher than where they are today!
Nice piece.

Shielded Bitcoin & PIPEs: 12 Questions & Answers

Twelve questions, misconceptions, and avenues for research the [[alloc] init] team is addressing in their pursuit of privacy on Bitcoin
Since its publication last week, [[alloc] init]’s Shielded Bitcoin proposal, along with PIPEs v2 published earlier this year, has generated plenty of excitement, along with a fair share of skepticism. Not surprising. The proposals use relatively novel cryptography to pursue something ambitious: private Bitcoin transfers, programmable vaults, and more ex…

THE BUILDERS DO NOT WAIT

What September 2026 Taught Us About Financial Plumbing, Policy, and Bitcoin
When I first read Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin white paper in December 2013, I was not staring at a finished financial system. I was looking at nine pages describing an idea that almost everyone around traditional finance could still comfortably dismiss. Bitcoin had no ETF, no Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, no stablecoin law, no major asset manager building a…

TBR #367: Don’t Parlay. Just DCA.

Sports gambling is robbing you blind. All you had to do was DCA into Bitcoin.
I don’t mind the con. There’ll always be suckers out there. It used to be penny stocks. Then crypto and meme coins. Now it’s sports betting.

Bitcoin Rallied, Mining Economics at 8 Month High

Why miners captured only part of the rally and how PowerCompute is adapting without adding more power.
Bitcoin returned to an eight-month high as ETF inflows accelerated, but miners captured only a part of the rally. A short-term hashrate peak pushed difficulty higher, leaving hashprice stuck near $40/PH/day. Despite margins still being under pressure, PowerCompute announced they add 11.8% more hashrate without adding power. This case shows how smaller o…

Bitcoin Vs Bitcoin Cash

A thing with no king still has to decide what it is. Bitcoin does it by tearing itself in half, on a schedule. Here is what its civil wars teach you about every leaderless system you belong to.

This is a remarkably good way to explain governance without government. The most interesting point is that a fork does not merely create two technical systems; it forces an invisible social consensus into the open. Code can be copied instantly, but legitimacy, liquidity, trust, infrastructure, and the shared belief that one chain is “Bitcoin” cannot. That also complicates the idea that the market simply selects the better argument. Markets often select the strongest coordination point—the version around which expectations have already converged. In that sense, Bitcoin’s real moat may not be its code at all, but the enormous social agreement surrounding it. The empty throne is therefore not truly empty: no person occupies it, yet collective belief does. And perhaps that is the strangest form of power—one that belongs to everyone precisely because no one can claim it alone.

Biology calls this phenomenon "mitosis" and it's a normal and necessary developmental time-bound inertia. To the extent that code can be considered an alien form of organism, the analogy holds. Cell biology can certainly be considered a form of organization. Both animate in the EM space as electrically animated phenomena. Arguments over the materiality of the noun tend to entirely miss the primacy of the verb. Behavior and State. Some see a dialectic. Some will also see the dualism. Agonism is typically a product of balancing dualism. The qualities of agonism more likely arise from the personalities of the humans involved and the individualized pathologies related thereto. As a wise fellow once said: "Don't just listen to the story, count who actually holds the power."

🟧 Green September.

Bitcoin just posted its best September ever — in the month that’s historically its worst. The quiet buyers kept stacking while everyone watched oil.
