Upon waking with amnesia, your task is simple: uncover the secrets of the Windscale nuclear disaster; search, scavenge, and craft to survive; and partner up with various factions and local leaders to escape the disaster zone.

Get the Best Start in Atomfall
Atomfall is daunting on its surface, with a player-driven narrative, main and side leads, and challenging combat. Keeping a few basics at the forefront of your mind can help you navigate the Windscale disaster with greater fluidity and ease:
- There is a heavy reliance on melee. In post-apocalyptic Northern England, you'll find weapons worn and busted and ammo scarce, so relying on melee to survive becomes paramount. It's best to save your precious ammunition for more formidable enemies, like the roaming robots.
- Exploration is the name of the game. In the world of Atomfall, nearly every path leads somewhere. You might encounter a helicopter crash, which points you toward a bunker, which in turn points you to Interchange. Or, an old man with too few teeth may point you to a trader, who then tells you about Interchange. Interchange is the goal, but how you get there is entirely up to you!
- Your choices have consequences. Throughout your journey, you'll encounter various characters, points of interest, and quests that vary in outcome. Your choices affect that outcome. You could side with the kindly woman in town, choose to help the militaristic might of Protocol, or delve into the abandoned bunkers without anyone's help or intervention. It's up to you!
