Travel to Widow
- Location: Serpent Nebula - Widow - Citadel - Wards - Upper Markets
This Assignment, as indicated by the name, is located on the Citadel. This is the galactic hub in the Serpent Nebula, the only cluster in the western part of the Milky Way, and is where you do the "Citadel: Expose Saren" Mission. It also only has one system, Widow, and zero Discoveries.
How The Fan Works
"Citadel: The Fan" is an interesting sort of Assignment in that it's done in three distinct parts. You'll do this by talking to Conrad Verner, the man at the top of the stairs connecting the Upper and Lower Markets. If you don't have a Rapid Transit to the Upper Markets, zip to Chora's Den instead, then turn around and go through the door to the Lower Markets. Take the stairs up and Conrad will be at the top.
With this Assignment, you advance to the next part by completing a Mission World. The Mission Worlds are Therum, Feros, Noveria and Virmire.
Stage 1 - The Autograph
You can first start this Assignment during your first visit to the Citadel, after you've seen the Council in the Citadel Tower. When you first speak to Conrad, he comes off as a bit odd with how much he idolizes Shepard and their accomplishments. Eventually, Conrad will eventually ask for Shepard's autograph.
- If you pick "No problem" or "I suppose" Shepard will oblige, and Conrad will leave.
- If at any time you pick "Leave me alone" or "What? No", then Conrad will leave in a sour mood, although this won't conclude the Assignment.
Stage 2 - The Picture
The next time you can talk to Conrad is after you complete a Mission World and then return to the Citadel. Conrad will be in the same spot as before in the Upper Markets. Here's how this can go:
- If at any time you pick "Get lost" or "No! Get out of here!", Conrad will be upset and run off to prove to Shepard he can be a hero. A news report can later be heard saying he died fighting some Turians.
- After Conrad asks to take Shepard's picture, you can pick "I suppose" or "Go ahead" to oblige. Conrad will then leave, rather pleased.
If you're following this guide in order, you'll next want to pop downstairs to Morlan's Famous Shop for a License and Grenade Upgrade. Your next Assignment depends on Shepard's Pre-Service History:
- Earthborns should start "Citadel: Old Friends" outside Chora's Den.
- Spacers should start "Citadel: Old, Unhappy, Far-Off Things" in the Wards Access corridor.
- Colonists should go to the Presidium to talk to Udina and progress "UNC: Asari Diplomacy".
Stage 3 - The Spectre
For this stage, you once again have to complete another Mission World, then meet with Conrad at the same spot in the Upper Markets. To start, Conrad will say he's had an idea he wanted to run by you.
- If you answer "Again? No", then Conrad will storm off to prove Shepard he can be a hero. A news alert will later say he died fighting some Turians.
- If you pick "Conrad, I'm pretty busy" or "Go ahead", then Conrad will explain that he wants to Shepard to make him a Spectre.
If you didn't pick "Again? No", you'll then have five options to pick, with three possible outcomes:
- If you pick "It's a bad idea", "It's not going to happen" or "No", Shepard will explain that Conrad isn't fit to be a Spectre even if they had the pull to make him one. Conrad will storm off to prove Shepard wrong, and as said by a news alert, will die fighting some Turians.
- If you have 2 Charm, you can pick "It's not that easy". This will gently convince Conrad he's not fit to be a Spectre, and you'll get +8 Paragon Points.
- If you have 2 Intimidate, you can pick "Here's a test", "That's a load of crap" or "There are no good fights" (depending on Shepard's Pre-Service History). Shepard will shove a gun in Conrad's face, and despite being upset, this will convince Conrad and he'll walk away with his life.
