What does Power Mode do in the AI Agent for WordPress?

Summarize this article with:
Last update: Oct 12, 2026 • 2 min read

  • What it is: A safeguard that stops the AI Agent from making high-impact changes to your site without your explicit approval.
  • Disabled by default: You need to enable Power Mode before the agent can perform gated actions.
  • What Power Mode does: Deleting content, bulk changes, user management, general WordPress settings, and WooCommerce products and orders.
  • If Power Mode is disabled: The agent pauses and alerts you instead of making the change.
  • Who can use it: Any standalone WordPress site connected to an active AI Studio service.

Power Mode is a safeguard feature in the AI Agent for WordPress in SiteGround AI Studio that helps prevent unintended or harmful changes to the website.

Actions that require Power Mode

It must be enabled to execute the following actions:

  • Deleting:
    • Plugins
    • Themes
    • Posts
    • Pages
    • Categories
    • Tags
    • Users
    • Media
    • Products
  • Making bulk content changes, such as:
    • Editing all post titles at once
    • Updating URLs across multiple pages
    • Mass-deleting drafts
  • Creating and updating users
  • Changing General WordPress settings, such as the:
    • Site URL
    • Site Title
    • Timezone
  • Creating and managing WooCommerce products
  • Managing WooCommerce orders, for example:
    • Canceling pending orders
    • Marking orders as completed
    • Deleting transactions

By default, Power Mode is turned off. This is intentional: high-impact actions should never run without your explicit confirmation. You can enable it manually.

NOTE! Actions that don’t appear in the list above, such as creating and editing content or getting recommendations, don’t require Power Mode.

How to enable Power Mode

To turn Power Mode on, follow the steps in this guide on How to Enable Power Mode for the AI Agent for WordPress.

What happens if Power Mode is OFF

If you ask the AI Agent to do a high-impact action while Power Mode is disabled, it pauses and alerts you before making the change. The action isn’t carried out until you enable Power Mode. Once the mode is enabled, the AI Agent resumes the paused operation.

Availability

Power Mode is part of the AI Agent for WordPress, which is powered by AI tokens provided by your SiteGround AI Studio. You can use it on any standalone WordPress website, hosted at SiteGround or elsewhere, as long as you have an active AI Studio service. Websites hosted outside SiteGround connect to AI Studio via a connection key. The AI Agent for WordPress doesn’t support WordPress multisites.

Frequently asked questions

Is Power Mode on by default?

No. Power Mode is turned off by default, so the agent can’t make high-impact changes without your explicit permission.

Why did the AI Agent stop before deleting something?

The action requires Power Mode, and it’s turned off. The agent pauses and alerts you instead of proceeding. Enable Power Mode if you want it to continue.

Does Power Mode cost extra?

Power Mode is a setting of the AI Agent, not a separate product. You only need to have enough AI tokens for the intense actions that Power Mode is used for.

Do I need Power Mode to create or edit posts and pages?

No. Power Mode applies to the actions listed above, such as deleting content, bulk changes, user management, and WooCommerce orders.

Does Power Mode work on sites hosted outside SiteGround?

Yes, as long as the site is connected to your AI Studio service with a connection key.

Can I undo an action the agent performed with Power Mode on?

Many actions are reversible directly in the AI chat, but others might require manual restoration. However, if you can’t undo an action from the chat, you can always restore your website to a previous revision or the Backup tool (for SiteGround-hosted websites).
