Months after claiming to be single, Lil Wayne says he’s ready to jump the broom and get married after proposing to his new fiancee, Madi Cannon.
On Monday (Sept. 28), Hot Boys member B.G. shared a video message Wayne sent him on Instagram, congratulating him on his engagement to his girlfriend, Brooke Jones. “My lil Brodie gave me his blessings,” B.G. wrote in the post’s caption, tagging Wayne’s own account on the social media platform.
In the brief clip, Weezy sends his well wishes to his longtime groupmate before introducing Cannon as his romantic partner, implying he had already proposed while gushing about his plan to make her his wife.
“I’m marrying this one,” the Young Money leader said of Cannon, who also appeared in the clip “This is Madison. This is my fiancée.”
Cannon waves to the camera while also congratulating B.G. on his engagement to Jones, with Weezy preemptively claiming his own role in B.G.’s wedding party. “Let us know what color we’re wearing. I’m the best man, you heard me,” he jokes before ending his message.
Wayne’s latest life development comes months after initial reports that he and Cannon were engaged first surfaced in May. In the following month, those reports gained further credibility after Wayne and Cannon were spotted together in various photos.
Cannon posted a photo of herself and Weezy and appeared alongside the rapper and sports pundit Skip Bayless in a photo posted by Bayless in late June.
However, in July, Wayne released a message refuting reports of an engagement, referring to a relationship with someone in the past tense, albeit without mentioning them by name.
“I would like to clear something up: No, I’m not engaged,” he stated at the time.
“I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person, but obviously due to the validity of the temperature of today’s world and culture, I considered [that] I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So we decided to part. Sucks.”
In the video, Tunechi also addressed his absence from the Maine stop of his 20 Years of Carter Classics Tour. He attributed the missed show to a medical scare that prevented him from traveling.
“I have epilepsy, I have seizures, right? Thank God I haven’t had a seizure in years, but seizures have triggers. A trigger to my seizures is bad migraines,” the hitmaker shared. “I had a f–king migraine that night. It was recommended I don’t get in the air.”
He later made up for the missed show by doubling back for a performance in Bangor in late July.
Weezy’s 20 Years of Carter Classics Tour runs until February 2027, with remaining shows in West Virginia, Texas, Tennessee, and rescheduled stops in South Carolina, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.
While Lil Wayne’s love life appears to have gone through the motions throughout the year, B.G.’s have seemingly been steadfast, as he’s been open in his affection for Brooke Jones, regularly posting photos of the two together on his social media account.
Earlier this month, the “Bling Bling” rapper took his relationship with Jones to the next level, making a marriage proposal onstage to during the Cash Money & No Limit Tour stop in New Orleans.
