I would like to request the addition of a bz_IT or bz_DElocale for Bolzano/Bozen, South Tyrol (Alto Adige), Italy, including its corresponding regional flag.
Similar to how Catalonia has its own regional locale/representation, I would like to see Bolzano/Bozen represented separately rather than only under the generic it_IT locale.
Details
- Locale:
bz_IT or bz_DE
- Region: South Tyrol / Alto Adige
- Capital: Bolzano / Bozen
- Italian: Bolzano
- German: Bozen
- Suggested flag: South Tyrol flag
- Country: Italy
Bolzano/Bozen is a distinctive multilingual region where Italian and German are both widely used. Having a regional locale would better represent users from South Tyrol and distinguish the region from Italy as a whole.
I am requesting this in the same spirit as the existing regional representation for Catalonia: to give users the possibility of selecting their own region and seeing it represented with its regional identity and flag.
If bz_IT or bz_DE is not the appropriate locale identifier according to the project's conventions, I would also be happy to use whichever identifier the maintainers consider technically appropriate.
Thank you for considering the request!
