Implement new submodule handling #233

Description

@Byron

In previous git versions, it was common to checkout submodules right at the spot in the tree of their parent repository.

In later git versions though, submodule repositories are placed outside of the working tree.

Git-python should choose the submodule mode depending on the python version, and thus remain backwards compatible.

    Testing revealed that git 1.8.0 introduces support for .git files , which is when submodules are using these as well. Thus everything below 1.8.0 should still use the way of handling submodules.

    After all the sessions below, all enabled submodule tests work and I believe that .git files are fully supported.
