Is AdGuard Tracking Protection Filter useless? #32389
|
Please, give us some clarifications about the removal of AdGuard Tracking Protection Filter from uBO’s stock lists, since it contains several tens of thousands of trackers that aren’t covered by any other included privacy list. I think that it is an irreplaceable list and, if it causes some breakages, they should be reported and fixed by AG team, although in my experience it hasn’t caused any, in contrast to EasyPrivacy which has broken a few sites. If the problem is some syntax incompatibilities, you can create a uBO-specific fork, as you have already done with AdGuard URL Tracking Filter. |

AGURLTP list is able to be forked and maintained because the update frequency of that list is much lower and we can catch up with the upstream source manually. Any other lists will be a huge burden.
If there are trackers missing, just report it. If it's not solved after a while in EP, report to here. On the other hand I see other filters that are in EP but not AGTP list. If no one wants to report, the list can't know which to add. Don't force us to add as many lists as you want.
Your experience cannot be the measure for all others.
The reports will always go to this first. People just enable lists without caring what they want with those lists and report to here. |

Also some interesting historical information here as well:
besides, a curiosity: someone else wrote that each of you is right:
The same opinion: AdguardTeam/AdguardFilters#139081 (comment)
In the same aforementioned comment, the same opinion (at the bottom: "also other users' experiences might be different.")
True, they just ignore what official uBO documentation already mentions about "where to report issues caused by additional filter lists": https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dashboard:-Filter-lists#important, they should at least read that section of documentation before enabling any additional filter lists. A good idea / solution (at least partially) to that problem, would be putting a prerequisite with the aforementioned link, into the issue template: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/blob/master/.github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/bug_report.yml, For example: "Issues caused by non-default filter lists should be reported to their respective trackers first. |
