After three seasons of Reasonable Doubt, Jax has maneuvered through family and marital stress, thrived against office politics and betrayals, and endured being kidnapped and nearly facing death. Now, as the series returns for Season 4, is it time for her to finally live? The cliffhanger in the series finale had many audiences asking the same question, and now, with Jax as the confirmed victim of the office shooting, her life hangs in the balance.
The new season of the hit drama finds the criminal defense lawyer, portrayed by Emayatzy Corinealdi, clinging to life. As revealed in a trailer, Jax was shot by Monica (Brandee Evans) at her new law firm, and as she fights to survive, those in her inner circle push to keep The Stewart Firm afloat.
As the official synopsis says, “nothing feels certain.” With her husband Lewis Stewart (McKinley Freeman) at her bedside and Corey Cash (Morris Chestnut) supporting her firsthand, her safety net is strong, but surviving a gunshot wound is only half of the battle. Jax’s most loyal client is at the center of a spiraling media firestorm, and The Stewart Firm is thrust into a high-stakes battle with everything on the table.
Cropper, portrayed by R&B singer Durrell “Tank” Babbs, is introduced as a super-wealthy R&B artist and longtime client of Jax. Meagan Good also joins the Reasonable Doubt world as Regina Harris, the smart, new district attorney. The expanding ensemble also welcomes La La Anthony, Taylor Polidore Williams, Rutina Wesley and DeVaughn Nixon.
“A mogul in every sense of the word,” Tank said about his character. “Extremely complex. He’s just as gangster as he is a double-platinum, diamond-selling artist … He’s got the take-over-the-world mentality.”
“This season is quite spicy,” added Good. “My character’s name is Regina Harris. She is the brand-new DA. Things start off very well, and then things go to sh*t, kind of [laughs]. You’ll see how it goes.
“I quickly realized that she is juggling a lot and she’s navigating a lot as a woman.”
This season, all of the characters entangled in one another’s personal, private, public, and professional affairs are forced to face their past while working arduously to preserve their relationships and protect the people, careers, and identities that matter most.
