▶ TODAY – KNOW YOUR READINESS
Start each day with a Training Readiness score based on the ratio of acute to chronic training load, combined with body metrics and sleep quality. This tracks the balance between recent training effort and what your body can handle, accounting for short-term trends.
This helps you:
• Select the right effort & intensity for the day
• Build steadily toward goals
• Avoid injury and overtraining
All factors affecting your Readiness appear in interactive charts (Sleep, Training Load Ratio - TLR, Training Form, Body Metrics).
Body metric history shows how training impacts recovery and adaptation. View data across 7 days, 4 weeks, or 6 months. Each view shows avg, max, and min values.
View sleep quality, duration, stages, and consistency over 14 days. Longer periods are coming.
▶ PROGRESS – TRACK YOUR PERFORMANCE
See how your training load is stacking up during the training cycles.
• Balance hard training periods and recovery weeks
• Training Goals: Set short- and long-term targets and track progress over time
• Training Focus: choose the right type of guidance according to your goals - Polarized, Pyramid, Threshold
• Track your Endurance Fitness (CTL), Cardio Fitness (VO₂ max), and cycling FTP with clear trends.
Coming later:
• Running FT Pace
• Cycling Power Curve
▶ WORKOUTS – COMPLETE INSIGHT
All your HealthKit workout history in one place.
Garmin Connect supported. New workouts import automatically.
Weekly, monthly, and yearly trends with detailed charts, including training load, duration, energy, distance, elevation, and number of sessions.
Detailed in-workout analysis with:
• Key stats
• Zones (aerobic & anaerobic, traditional 5 HR zones, and cycling power zones)
• Breakdown (intervals, segments, and distance splits)
• Charts
• Advanced metrics: Efficiency Factor, Aerobic Decoupling, Relative Intensity, and Variability Index.
▶ APPLE WATCH APP
Key stats always a glance away: Training Readiness, TLR, Sleeping Heart Rate, HRV, Wrist Temperature, Respiratory Rate, Blood Oxygen, and recent Sleep.

Insights to change my training

I've used some other Apps -- often it seems like they add metrics just because they can be calculated. This is more curated.Using it I realized a mental mistake. I'm interested in VO2max as a measure of endurance. It takes time to go up so I'd track it with workouts. But this made it clear that I should really track my load a month before -- it's really my previous work that tracks with VO2max. The focus on training load and the ratio with which it's changing -- very helpful with dog walks. I track those differently (trying not tool rush my doggie too much.) still I can compare it to other types of workouts.
This could be a great app!

This is one of the most visually appealing fitness apps I’ve used! The interface is clean, modern, colorful, and does an excellent job presenting workout data. I also appreciate how much information is available—from training load and endurance fitness to heart rate zones and workout trends. My biggest criticism is that the app often assumes users already understand advanced exercise physiology. For example, labels like “Low Aerobic Shortage,” “High Aerobic,” and “Anaerobic” are presented without enough explanation of how the app defines those terms. During one of my indoor walking workouts, the app classified 67% of the session as anaerobic, which seemed surprising for a steady 50-minute walk. Whether the app is correct or not isn’t really the issue—the issue is that it never explains why it reached that conclusion.I would love to see each metric include a brief explanation answering three simple questions:• What does this metric measure?• Why did I receive this result?• What can I do to improve it?Even something as simple as a tappable “Learn More” button beneath each chart would dramatically improve the experience. The app already excels at collecting and displaying data; now it needs to excel at helping users understand what that data means.Overall, this is one of the most promising fitness apps I’ve tried. With clearer explanations and more educational context, I think it could become one of the best fitness platforms available.

Hi! Thanks for trying The Outsiders and for your feedback. We do have those "Learn more" buttons :) Some metrics have the "i" button on the right side of the screen, and others have short articles at the bottom of the page explaining what that metric means, why it matters and what the results tell you about your fitness. Is that what you had in mind? Also, could you drop by support@theoutsiders.app so we can check that 50-minute indoor walk? It sounds like some settings might be off on your end and I'll be happy to look into that and help you set it up correctly. Thanks, Vid
Good so far, but needs…

I like the app so far. It fits a niche I was contemplating getting a more expensive fitness tracker and additional subscription for. With this, I think I can stick with my Apple Watch and get 90% of the same benefits. One recommendation: report on periods of time in specific training zones. Perhaps integrate with the Gentler app for this. But if I want to target Zone 2 training, or work on VO2 max, it would be nice to have that data integrated to show the percentage of my training efforts that have been dedicated to those zones, and then additional recommendations to increase endurance, VO2, etc. Maybe have the ability to adjust or filter in settings so you can set your own targets if you don’t like the app’s pre-programmed recommendations?

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience on The Outsiders, and thanks for all the suggestions. Some of them are already being discussed and considered for adding, and the others we will keep in mind for future updates. Best, Vid
The Outsiders are turning 1! In a way it feels like yesterday, but looking back it was a year full of meaningful updates and milestones. Thank you for being with us on this journey! This update is, as you can imagine, all about iOS 27 - it brings voice support, a glassier look, (bit of) on-device AI, and some more.
▶ SIRI APP INTENTS. Ask Siri “Training Readiness in The Outsiders” and get an answer without opening the app. Works for your readiness, workouts, sleep, or body metrics. Make sure to add The Outsiders to any prompt you make, otherwise Siri will sail its own way.
▶ ON-SCREEN AWARENESS. Go to any part of the app and ask Siri to make sense of what you see on screen, think of it as your fitness trainer on the go. For instance “summarize this workout for me”, “what does this chart mean for my training”, … find the way that works for you.
▶ WORKOUT TITLE SUGGESTIONS. On-device AI suggests a more detailed name for your recorded sessions. Like it? Save it. Not feeling it? Make your own or keep it default.
▶ DESIGNED TO FEEL LIKE HOME. Liquid Glass got glassier, improving readability across the app and making that icon really pop on your home screen.
▶ ADAPTIVE LAYOUT. Works smoothly on any screen you open it on, including upcoming iPhone Duo.
We are small, independent, passionate about what we do and how we do it. If you like our ways, rate us on The App Store. If you have feedback drop by Threads @theoutsiders.app or on Twitter at @theoutsidersapp. You can also write to support@gentlerstories.com: we read and reply to every email.
Enjoy the outside!
